Building AdditionGod’s faithfulness to Bridgewater Community Church over the years has been remarkable.  The church was originally established on June 9, 1872. Those founding fathers were faithful to do what they thought God was directing them to do and we are, likewise, desirous to continue doing the same thing.  They had a stewarding responsibility; we have a stewarding responsibility.  Stewarding includes not only the physical property but more importantly, the spiritual growth of God’s people.

For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting and His faithfulness is to all generations. (Ps 100:5).

At the time of the original construction, the cost was $1,563.00.  And by God’s grace, the original structure is the main portion of the current facility.  Over the years, there were 2 major building projects adding on to the south (Pastor’s Study, Conference room, restrooms, back hall wall and staircase) and to the north (foyer, restrooms, and church office).

Here we are some 150 years later and still worshipping the Lord in the same facility as those early faithful believers.  We humbly ask the Lord to allow us to continue to be faithful in preaching His Word and proclaiming the glorious Good News of the Gospel for another 150 plus years (or until He returns).

To that end, we need to expand the facility to accommodate the mission of the church.  We have, and continue, to use all of the current available space but are in need of more space to facilitate teaching, equipping and discipleship.  This addition would also allow us to be more available to the community for additional outreach.  The plan is to do the entire work in three phases:

Phase One  – $400,000

  • New entrance space/lobby
  • Airlock space
  • Three meeting rooms
  • Drive under canopy
  • Transition space to a new fellowship hall (Phase two)

Additional Phases

Phase Two – Amount TBD

  • Fellowship Hall
    • Larger space for church meals and events
    • Main level for handicap accessibility
    • Greater opportunity for community use
  • Multi-Purpose Room
    • Classrooms
    • Counseling space
  • Additional Biblical Counseling

Phase Three – $15,000

  • Modify the former Fellowship Hall
    • 2 large children’s classrooms
    • Install walls/hallway
    • Update the kitchen space

Fundraising Progress

We understand that this is a large undertaking and has been part of the plan for years; however, we have not been in a position to really move forward.  We think and pray we are now.

It is not the desire of the leadership to incur debt to make the changes.  We have made a lot of changes to the church over the years, but have done so through available resources (at least the last 14 years).  The same would apply to these changes.  We do not anticipate borrowing any money for this work.  We will work within our means.

We trust and know that if this is the Lord’s will for us, He will do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us (Ephesians 3:20).

At the same time, if it is not His will to move forward, then it will not happen.  That simply means He has something else for us.  Either way, we praise His Holy name!

The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. (Job 1:21b).
